Where does Garret fit into all of this?

Good question!

When Cardia1 asked me to use the Anna character for his own mission-I didn't realize at the
time he wanted them snuggling up together-honest!

The original story as I conceived it would have had Garrett only making a cameo appearance-perhaps Anna would see him pass by in a crowd and not knowing who he was comment to her self, "what a roguish looking fellow-quite handsome though" or perhaps arrive on the scene of a break-in at a Mechanist base only to see the back of Garrett as he made some kind of death defying escape worthy of an action movie, or maybe something subtle like a note she finds in her room saying "You seem to be better at saving lives rather than taking them, you're in the wrong group for that stuff-take my advice and get out of the mechanist order while you can-G"

The story I had in mind was going to be a long campaign with Anna starting out as an adventurous daughter of nobility who after the death of her father joins the Mechanist order after being dazzled by it's displays of technology and hearing of the many achievements and adventures one could have as a Friend of the Builder-after all they were just like the Hammers but with better gizmos right? I had in mind several missions that would cover her military career where she would fight primitive tribes in the rocky hills south of the city alongside her friends as they fought their way out of a valley after being ambushed and made their way back to their outpost to tell the tale (the mechanists were securing the area alongside the City army for it's mineral resources). There would be fights against the pagans of course (who aren't as innocent as T2 would lead you to believe!)

Then there would be the climatic battle of Murkbell where in the days after Garrett and Mercedes took off after destroying the Cylix, numerous zombies and cog-knows-what still ran wild in the heart of the city. I had envisioned a massive battle scene where enormous artillery pieces like railroad guns from WWI and massive batteries of rockets bombarded Murkbell, turning the whole area into a wasteland of craters and burning buildings with large blimps overhead with large searchlights shining down and occasional flights of Friend Sterlino's airmen flying down to shoot fire crystal tipped rockets and swarms of zombies milling around Meepwood cemetery as Mechanist infantry and robots press deeper and deeper into the inferno in a fight to the death with hell on earth! Purah actually gave me permission to use Midnight at Murkbell-but after messing around with the mission in dromed-I quickly realized the whole concept would go beyond dromed's and my own capabilities (not to mention the wrath of the fans if I tried to do it anyways and buggered the whole concept!) All this time she would be fighting off the occasional nightmares she would have as a side effect of the powerful strength serum she was injected with regularly (to boost her physical strength for close quarter combat).

The next section after that was the naval period of her career-involving submarines, underwater bases, diving in the ocean, fighting more strange creatures in aquatic structures being explored, amphibious operations involving things like swimming underwater up from a mini sub to climb up into a pirate vessel to quietly eliminate the guards so the ship could be stormed in order to rescue people captured by the pirates to be sold as slaves.

A particularly freaky idea I had was a concept where the Mechanists were going to retrieve a special artifact some rich guy wanted who would give an enormous sum of gold in return for getting possession of it. It was known to be in a large city midway on a small peninsula in a far off land, being secured by large walls and hostile territory on one end-the mechanists have Anna infiltrate in by another way, she flies off one of Friend Sterlinos blimps in a glider in the late evening and then makes a parachute drop from it into the ocean near the shoreline in wetsuit and dive helmet. After slipping on shore at night she makes contact with a mechanist operative who has mapped out the city, he informs her the artifact is there, but it lies in the 'sealed quarter'-the older half of the city that lies toward the tip of the peninsula and is sealed off by high walls. Knowing she can make her escape to a waiting boat nearby once she has the object, she slips over the walls into the area-only to find it has quite a bit in common with the old quarter-and like the Eye the artifact begins to whisper to her when she grabs it-it gives her tips about how to avoid the undead and how to get out of the city-she senses it's desire to be free and realizes it's pure evil. Hoping it can't read her thoughts, she whispers back she needs to go back though the old hammer factory to retrieve some equipment she left there in order for them to escape. When she enters there, the artifact tells her to act quickly for it 'despises this place' only to find itself tossed into a pool of holy water a moment later! Screaming as it disintegrates it summons every haunt in the area to come and Anna has a rather difficult but successful escape and promptly informs her superiors about the artifact's properties and the likelihood that the rich guy had bad intentions.

I could go into more details but that would take a few pages! Have fun with the stories/objects/levels you find here and see what you can do with them! :)
